WORK FOUND BY GOVERNMENT.

EFFORTS OF MR. A. 'M, SAMUEL.

Fallowing on representations made, Mr A. M. Samuel, M.P., visited Waihi’ onj Wednesday and had a conference with the Mayor (Mr W. M. Wallnutt) and Mr W. Bice (secretary of the Waihi Miners’ Association) in regard to the unemployment question in that town. As the result of representations made to the Government by Mr Samuel the Minister of Public Works has found work n the southern end hf the Waihi-Whaiigamata road for 14 married men, who have been put on this week. Arrangements have also been made for the employment of a further six married men on Monday next.

There are still a number of married men and single menrwith dependants out of employment air Waihi due principally to the shortening of hands at the gold mines, and the member for iDhinemuri is now making further representations to the Government, with a view to placing SUC h men in employment.

Yesterday Mr Samuel spent a busy day at Paeroa on matters affecting this portion of his, eHectorate. He left Paeroa for Auckland this morning, and on February 24 it is his intention to spend ten days at Whangaroa with a -party i n big game fl s hin g .
