BOWLING.

NIGHT PLAY COMPETITION.

The day’s work being completed, and the cool of the even'ng having taken the place of an almost intolerably hot day, it was small wonder that tired housewives left their homes' and accompanied their husbands to the bowling green, where, under the soft glow of the rows of high-suspended electric lights, everything was refreshing and peaceful.

Night bowling, since the admission of the gentler sex to the rinks, has become very popular lately, and last night’s attendance —56 players—constituted a record f°r the green. A large number of interested spectators alFo attended.
