A GOOD YARDING..
DRY WEATHER AFFECTS PRICES
The N.Z. Loan and. Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., held its second sale this year in the Paeroa saleyards. There was a good yarding of cattle, comprising about 250 head, ;as well as several pens of sheep. Dairy cows were not in great demand', while prices were easy for boner cows on account of the strike at the freezing works. Buyers were present from Auckland (Southdown) and district. The prolonged spell of dry weather affected the prices somewhat, and the rates were' a little below K thoSe ruling a few weeks ago. Practically all the cattle was disposed of, either under the hammer or by private treaty, but the sheep were passed in on account of the reserve placed on by the vendor.
Prices ruling were : Dairy cows £5 •to £7, dairy heifers £3 10s to £5, fat cows £5 to £6 518, 2% to 3-year s'.eers £4 10s to £5 10s boner steersi £3 10s to £4l 18-months steers £2 to £2 17s.
