COMPETITION MATCHES. DEFEAT OF LEADING TEAM. The Hauraki Plains Cricket Association’s inter-club competitions were continued on Saturday last . Kopuarah secured a two-point win from Ngatea, securing 56 runs, and dismissing the home team for 24. The Turua team was badly beaten at Kaihere. In the firsjt innings nine players were dismissed with “ducks’ eggs,” and the total score was 10, made up by a nine and a single. The Kaihere total score was| 86, thus a three-point win was secured, with a z margin of an innings and' 43 runs. ‘ Kopuarahi secured a two-point win win at Orongo 1 .The best batsmen' of the various teams on the day were as\follows!: Kopuarahi, Russell Green, 21 not out; Kaihere, H. Dane, 26, F. Woodbridge, 23 ; Turua,, H. Owens 9, A. Hayes 9.

The best bowlers on the day were: Kopuarahi team, E. Gill, 7 wickets for 11 runs ; Ngatea, N. Boyne, 2 for 1 ; Kaihere, B. Nolan, 6 for 16, and 5 for 5, and A. J. McDonald 3 for 7, and 4 for 5 ; Turua, M. Madgwick, ,2 for 4.

The defeat of the Turua team, and the three-point victory of the Waitakaruru team evens up the competitionl. The championship points are now Turua 20, Waitakaruru 20, Kaihere 19, Kopuarahi 15, Ngatea 9, Pipiroa 5, and Orongo 4. All teams with the exception of Kaihere, 1 now have one mare match to play, but Waitakaruru and Kopuarahi have an innings to play, if necessary, on account of the match abandoned, on th|e breaking of the only ball available.
