MEETING OF COUNCIL routine business. The Hauraki Plains Oounty Council met at Ngatea yesterday, Cr. E. L. 'Walton presiding over Crs. J. C. Milder W. Mudgwick, J. A. Reid ( C. Par*4tt, A. L. Fisher, F. J. Mayn, H. H. and C. W. Harris. The clerk, ■kg, A- Mahoney, and the engineer, w -F. Basham, we're in attendance. i ■ POWER STOPPAGES. ■h’/Cr. Parfitt brought up thie matter the frequqnt interruptions in the . ‘iipply of electric power. He moved this council, view with concern 3ythe frequent interruptions in eleictric .'power from Horalrora, and while it *■<fuiiy appreciated the difficulties of the Thames Valley Rower Board in. -having short supply from the Public Works Department, representations should be made : to the Public Works, Department . to/ take all necessary «teps to prevent future interruptions. ; Cr. Reid said that the Power Board <as fully alive'to the patsition. The •Solution might be of assistance to . 'in its efforts. - The chairman said that the Power doard should be supported as mudh as possible in its representations to the Public Works Department to ■minimise the stoppages. The motion was carried. PATETONGA ROADS LOAN. * Thei Local Government Loans Board * /Advised that the application for the above loan of £5300 would be considered at the next meeting.’ NGATEA ROADS LOAN.
A similar letter was received in connection with the Ngatea Riding Roads Loan of £5OOO. ORCHARD EAST ROAD. The Hauraki Uniited Drainage. Board was granted permission to install a culvert under the Orchard Rpad from Mr J. C. Miller’s (j'unr). ■section. ■ i HIKUTAIA QUARRY. ■; A firm of dealers wrote seeking thfe prices at which it could endeavour to r sell the machinery at the Hikutaia quarry. ~ Cr. Mayn advocated securing a report op- the value of the plant for sale to the council. —Agreed, to. . MAUKORO BRIDGE. The Plato County Council advised that test p’les were now being driven for the Maukoro bridge, and the construction would be commenced as soon as, the Public Works Departmqnt was satisfied with tn© tests. TASMAN FLIGHT FUND. The Mayor of Wellington wrote seeking co-operation in giving an opportunity- to those in the district who dqsii'ed, to contribute to the funds fo' r the dependants of Lieut. J. R. Moncrieff'and Captain G- Hood. It was decided to circularise subscription lists. SUBDIVISION SCHEME. A subdivision scheme on behalf, of Mi’s W. A. Graliapi, owner of a block of land on Miranda Road, Waitaicaruru, was forwarded by the Commissioner of Crown Lands, with the suggestion that the cotfhcil should outline its, minimum reading requirements. If metalling was insisted on prior to cutting up the proposal would have to bq abandoned, but if the land-met with a demand the roads would be Unlade as, required. 1 Cr. Harris was opposed to relaxing the council’s requirement for metalling all roads before agreeing to dedicate. • Crs. Mayn and Madgwick expressed the opinion that metajled roads were not and the. insistence on •’ietal by the, council would prevent the land being cut up. Harris reported that when the council’s offer in connection with the sale, of surplus water to the settlers of Waitakaruru-Maukoro road had been submitted to those settlers, exception was taken to the conditions of financing imposed by the council and a misundejrsttariding had also arisen in connection with the terms.
