CHARGES FOR POWER.
DISCUSSION BY BOARD. , i BALANCE-SHEET ASKED FOR. At yesterday’s meeting of the .Thnines Valley Electric "Power Board., a letter was received from a Matamata resident asking for a reduction in power charges for his, milking motor. He, went on to state, that unless the charges could be reduced he would be reluctantly compelled to revert to an oil engine for powe.r purposes.
The chairman said he considered that any review of charges should be deferred until after the present financial. year.
Mr Flatt said he failed to see that much could be done until after the receipt of thej balance-sheet. It was pointed out by Mi' Price that nearly two years elapsed before the last balance-sheet was available. The printed copy was submitted and adopted by the meeting, and members did not get a sufficient opportunity to discuss the figures. It had been his intention to move a notice of motion to the effect that opportunity be given members to discuss the audited balance, sheet at the May meeting.
The chairman said that there was no need to move a resolution. It had been an unusual occurrence that the figures had been so late, and this yqar a certified balance-sheet should be ready at the end of April.
Mr Flatt s,aid that if the charges were to be reviewed and the balancesheet discussed a copy should be forwarded to each member so as to be ready for the June meeting. Mr Price seconded the resolution, which was carried. N
