At Thursday’s meeting of the Ohfaier muri. County Council a. letter was ‘received from the Grey Settlers’ Association inviting represqutatves of the council to attend the diamond jubi lee celebrations, to lie held at Greym°uih this month. The chairman (Cr. H- M. Corbett) said that it was ; his intention to make an! effort to attend, and it was decided to acknowledge the invitation accordingly.
The red roads of the Hauraki Plains continue to suffer severely from the absence of moisture, and) are noiw in a worse condition th.an they have been for many years. The loose gravel on the surface is very slippery, and numerous minor accidents have occurred as the resit lit of skids. Motor cyclists, particularly those; riding heavy machinesi, ar© the most affected, and those motor car drivers who give extra consiideratfion to motor cyclists on the dusty camr bered roads of the Plains will receive the silent thanks of the twawheeled riders.
