FUNCTION AT KAITAIA.

MR. & MRS. PELLOW FABEWELLEO POPULAR RESIDENTS. At a farewell gathering at Kaitaia to Mr and Mrs A. Pellow, the Northern Age states :— “Within the next few days Mr and Mrs A. Pellow will have left the North for Paeroa, to which centre Mr Pellow is being transferred l(J n promotion to the position of postmaster. It is no idle flattery to say that the departure of Mr and Mrs Pellow from these parts will be greatly felt by many with whom they have for years been; on terms of intimate friendship. Apart altogether from the fact that these close ties are fpr the present being severed, the loss to the district is considerable. “Mrs Pellow as a worker in connection with the Presbyterian Church, as president of the Croquet Club, and in various other ways will be missed, as she will also be missed from many qf the social functions she has adorned with her presence from time to time during the many years Mr Pellow and she have been stationed here.

“Mr Pellow, although a busy man so far as his duties of superintendent at the Wireless Station went, always found time to join in many of the social events of the community as a member, and as handicapper for the Kaitaia G°lf Club Mr Pellow rendered good service to this branch of sport. In various ways he has entered into the lifes of the community in a manner, so that while holding aloof from all contentious issues which an officer of a Government Department are compelled to eschew, he has a.t the same time enjoyed everything there has- been to enjoy while he has lived at the Wireless Station. Necessarily Mr Pellow has made a host of friends by whom he will be greatly missed. As a public servant he has carried out his duties with distinction and has earned the respect of his departmental heads in so doing.”
