MOTOR LICENSES.
ALTERATIONS IN THE ACT.
Motor re-licensing for 1928 will bfcgin this month. The new licenses will be for a period of fourteen months, which will take owners up to May 31, 1929. »
Amendments to the Act of last year 'make the fees as follows: Motorcycle, Ils Bd, plus 2s for plates; motor-car, £2 6s; Bd, plus 2s 6d fo* plates. There has been an alteration in the fees for trade motors. A motor lorry exheeding a capacity of one ton, with pneumatic tyres, will be registered' for £2, plus two months; a. motor omnibus which was last year registered for £5 will this year be relicensed for £3, plus, two months; and the fee for a lorry with siolid tyres has been fixed at £3, plus two months, as against £5 last year.
Owners of vehicles who have failed to register transfers, will, not be granted fresh licenses until change of ownership has been put through’. The only cars to be exempt from registration this year are those belonging to Government departments and local authorities which use the vehicles for roadwork only. Dealers’ fees in the past have been 20s for a car and 5s for a motorcycle ; this year the cost of re-liceris-ing will be £2 and 10s respectively. Dealeiw’ plates can now be us<ed for any business purposes.
