LAST SATURDAY’S MATCH. /

PAEROA DEFEATS WAIKINO.

On Saturday afternoon the members of the Waikino Bowling Club visited Paeroa. and played an interclub match, five rinks taking part. After an enjoyable contest the local club won by 40 points. The visitors were welco,med by the president of. the local clubs, Mr C. T. Mettam. Following are the details, the name# of Waikino players being mentioned first: —

Cane, LGibb (skip) 30 ; Morgan, Hawthorne, Kinsella, Keatley (skip) 19, v. J. Brocket, C. H. Pascoe, E. Edwards, W. J. Towers (skip) 20; McPike, Borthwick, Wood, Murphy (skip) 19, v. W. Forrest, A. Finnic, F. W. Hayward, M. H. Chamberlain (skip) 17 ; Lewis, Low, Culpin, Hind (skip) 24, v. >O. C G. Thornton, W. Smith, T. LWilliams, F. Marsh (skip) 29. Totals.—Paeroa. 130, Waikino 90. PROGRESSIVE PAIRS. On Monday, (Anniversary Day) a progressive pairs tournajnent was played on the local green. Owing to the rain which fell early in the morning a start could not made until, fairly late, but the weather held fine and a most enjoyable day was spent. When it came to totalling up the scores, it was found 1 that the skips; W. Purdie, W. J. Towers, and M. H. Chamberlain had scored an equal number of points, but on ,the aggregate, Towers won. A similar position obtained between Lowry, Jessen, Brocket, but on the aggregate being ascertained, it was found that R. Lowry was the winner. NIGHT PLAY TOURNAMENT. To-morrow night the local club-is-holding a night play progressive pairs tournament fdr ladies and men. Post entries' will be. received, and handsome prizes, are provided tor the winners. The public generally are-epr-dially invited to take part in the play.
