* FARMERS* HOMES DESTROYED. total losses sustained. The homes of two Hauraki Plains Mr S. McOlune, of. Manigatarata, and Mr Edgar Hooper, of Orongo, have been destroyed, by fire. Mr Hooper, who is a returned sol-<-'<iier settler on a fescue-infected farm MR Orongo, was in Thames yesterday afternoon. Mrs Hooper noticed smoke issuing from the rear of their fourroomed house, but she was unable; to check the . flames, which quickly devoured'•the house and contents, no<thing being saved. There was a small insurance, on thej furniture,. and the Whouse was insured by the Crown. r Mr McClune’s three-roomed house on Mahutu Road, Mangatar ata, was destroyed on Wednesday afternoon. Mr McClune was some distance away when hej noticed smoke.
