PAEROA B DEFEATS TE AROHA B, MORRINSVILLE BEATS PAEROA A. -The first games in the third round of the Piako Cricket Aseociation’s . competition were played in ideal weather on Saturday. The Paeroa B team travelled to Te Aroha .where it played the local B eleven at the Herries Memorial Park. Paeroa, won the toss and elected to bat first, the innings producing 124 runs. The bowling suited Ball, who batted freely for the top score; of 22, including four 4’s. Knight was also in good form and played a good innings for ,27. Other double-figure were Lawrence (19). Fox (14), and Mayo (14). The Te Aroha innings was opened liy Turner and Cleave, the partnership being responsible for 20' runs. H irrison batted for a little over an hour for 23 runs and, made top score. Leece (17) and Cleave (13) were the only pjtlier batsman to reach double figures. The innings closed for 80. In the second innings Paeroa compiled 71 runs for the loss of six w’ckets, and then declared. Time did not permit of, the home side batting a second time, thus leaving Paeroa to gain a two-point win. PLAINS MATCHES'. SATURDAY’S RESULTS. The Hauraki Plains Cricket Association’s inter-plub competitions were continued on Saturday. At Kpipuarahi the Kaihere eleven secured a two.-point win, making 77 runs to the* Kopuarahi total of 34 for the first innings and 50 for three wickets in tihe second innings. B. Nolan took five wickets for 7 runs for Kaihereij and R. Connors, Kopuarahi, to°k five for .17. The McDonalds, father and son, were the only double-figure scorers making 25 not out and 19 respectively. At Pipiroa the Turiia team gained a two-point win with a margin of .35 runs over Pipiroa’s total of 68. For pipiroa F. Wallis made 30 runs, and JI. Knap ' took four wickets for 17 nuns. For Turua, H. Owens made. 47, l4, and W. W. Averill 11, while in the bowling Owens tcok three wickets for 5 runs, and Lindsay 3 for 14. , Ngatea had a two-point win against Orongo at Ngatea, with a margin of 14 runs on the first innings. Orongo compiled 62. and 33 and Ngatea 76, of which Gribble accounted f°r 30, Nicol 18 and Jafckson 12. Bowling for Ngatea, Gribble took seven wickets for 27, and in the second innings Corutihwaite took four for 8, Boyne four for 12, and Gribble two for 13. For Orongo, McMillan. (18), Pearce (11), and Field (10 and 10) were the best scorers, while Cranston, witn three wickets for 8 runs, and McMillan, With one for 2, were-the outstanding bowlers. x
