Two Maori girls, were recently refused accommodation at Rotorua by the proprietor of a large boardinghouse on the ground that they were natives. . Much indignation is expressed, and the Akarana. Maori Association has decided to write to the Rotorua Progress Committee sotting forth the case and asking that boardinghouse keepers be requested to discountenance such practice when reputable native visitors to Rotorua apply for accommodation.
The Ngatea Hall Society hits had the front of the section brought up to the road level with spoil obtained from, the schoolground. While this was being carted on to the sect’on a few planks in the bridge over the drain were broken. The society has decided to remove tire structure rather than repair it. An offer to pipe the drain on the hall, frontage in lieu of payment of a debt due many months hence was made isome time algd .but was turned down by the committee.
