EXTENSION OF SYSTEM). DISTRICT ROADS INCLUDED. A meeting of members of! the No. 2 District Highways Council was, held at Auckland on Thursday last, representatives of eleven cqunties being -present. Consideration was given to the declaration of additional highways in the council’s district, consequent on the levying of the petrol, tax by the Government. The petrol tax will enable the Main Highways Board to extend the mileage of the system by approximately 50 per cent., and to that end the District Council decided tpi recommend to the board that the following roads in this district should be declared main highways in addition to the present system:—= Hauraki Plains : Grongo-Netherton road and Ngatea-Morrinsvi!le-W a haroa road. Ohinemuri County: Hikiitia-Nether-ton ferry. Piako County : Ngatea-Morrinsville-Waharoa, and Tahuna-Ohinqwai.
