BRENAN SHIELD COMPETITION.

LAST SATURDAY’S GAMES.

The Paeroa Bowling Club continued its Bre.man Memorial Shield competition on Saturday afternoon, when three rinks spent an interesting afternoon. The contest between W. J. Towers and W. H. Taylor was; very interesting. On the 19th head Taylor was 18 to Towers’ 15. The 20'th head went tq Towers for four, making the scores .Towers 19, Taylor 18. The final head went to Taylor for one,, equalising the scores. To decide the winner an, extra three heads were played, and Towers won by 23 points to 21.

Altogether there were over Harty players on the green on Saturday. In addition to the Brenan Shield ga'mes the pairs competition was continued, while a number of players spent the ■ time playing friendly games. During the dry spell of weather the gree/i has become very hard and dry, and is already showing many bare patches.- However, considering t.Jie weather that 'has been experienced and the amount of play that there has been, the greeai is in very fair Playing order.
