Over £267 in rates was received by the Turua Town Board during the past month. This was induced by the board’s rebate of five per cqnt. Among the visitors to the races last week at'Omoto was a p’oneer who, during the past fifty yqars, has missed but one meeting, and who intends to see the trots, although 93 years of age (says the Grey River Argus). This resident is Mr Thos. Rundle, who came to Greymouth in 1866, and may fairly claim to now be the oldest resident, with the exception of one or two who were born in the, town. Mr Rlmdle was for many years a storekeeper and miner at Notown in its palmy days, and the only race meeting missed by him was one taking place, when floods prevented people in that locality from reaching Greymouth.
