PAEROA WATER SUPPLY.
AMPLE FOR PRESENT NEEDS. RESTRICTIONS NOT NECESSARY. With the, continuation of the present dry spell of weather the watei supply in towns is a matter of| grave concern. Fortunately, there is nc sign of a shortage in the; Borough oi Paeroa. His Worship the Mayor (Mr W. Marshall) accompanied by the, borough foreman, visited the (headworks al Tarariki Creek on Saturday afternoon. At 5 p.m. the position at the dam showed that the water had gone down only three inches below the spill-way. Unquestionably the reservoir would fill up again during Saturday night. This posit’on indicates that there is ample water to meei the demand which is now being mad( on the supply. At present no restrictions on- the consumption of water in the borougl are contemplated. At the same time any wilful, waste during a dry spel such as is now being experiencet would be criminal, and the counci will take drastic action w'here.vei waste is found to exist. Resident: are asked to attend to leaky taps ant to generally assist in conserving th< supply if the dry weather continues A member of the borough staff h at present engaged on an inspectici of _t a PS and general supervision o: the consumption of water. It is considered that Paeroa is one of the rifost fortunately situate< towns in the province with reference to its water supply. If this dry spel can be survived without it bein? necessary to place restrictions on the consumption of water something of e proud record will have been estab lished.
