Fortunately the present post office with its spacious rooms and modern appliances was quite equal to the demands made upon it, and the, staff, too, rose to sion, and mails, parcels, and telegrams were received and despatched with a promptitude and precision that reflects the greatest credit on those concerned. From returns ava’lable it is shown that 1098 telegrams were handled on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday of last week. On Saturday alone 220 telegrams were despatched, 196 received, and 177 transmitted to su h offices as Waikino and Kerepeehi, where there is no. Morsie, code in operation, making a total of 593 for the day. The inward and outward parcel mails were very heavy during the same three days.
