PIG MARKETING.
TURUA CO-OPERATIVE BRANCH. SCHEME IN OPERATION. Although the co-operative pig marketing scheme did not excite much, interest in Turua when explained by the managing director of the assiociat'«n some weeks ago, the few who were present at the meeting and who undertook to organise the district have done good work, and the scheme is now in operation. Mr P. R. Henry and Mr J. A. G. Wilson visited Kerepeehi and explained the project to a very large meeting of Kerepeehi farmers, who decided to take advantage and work in> with the Turua committee . Messrs J. M.. Thompson and C. F, Pierce were appointed representatives for Kerepeehi on the Turua committee. At a meeting of the committee last week Mr P. R. Henry wasi appointed convener and Mr J. A. G. Wilson secretary. Four tenders were received,..-, for the cartage of pigs to the railway station, and that of Mr H.i._ K. Peterson was accepted. -■* The committee decided to adopt the association’s scheme of optional insurance of pigs from the farm to the railway, which costs 4d a pig. Pigs will be collected on farms by arrangement otherwise at Mr Peterson’s farm, Kerepeehi, or at the pig receiving depot at Turua. it is expected, that two itruck-loads of pigs will be sent front Turua to-day and henceforth one truck-load a week.
