(ODDFELLOWS AND DRUIDS.
Matters in friendly societies have been busy at Paeroa recently. On Mo i.lar night the nalf-yeaily installation of the star of Paeroa Druids L.cdgj took place at the Soldiers’ Cluo. Bro. H. Gallagner pre sided, in the unavoidable absence of Bro. E. V. Slyfield, over a record attendance -f 56 members and also a number of visitors. Hie installation ceremony was carried out by Bio. J. T Brown past district president, assisted by Bro. G. Fallon, who is also a past district president. The following officers were installed : Arch Druid, Bro. W. Qerrand; V.A., Bro. Gi W. Brown ; treasurer, Bra. F. E. Flatt, 1.G., Bro H. Wilton : 0.G.. Bro. H. Gallagher ; A.D.8., Bros. J. T’ Wright and M. Beattie ; V.A.D-8., Bros. E. Woods, and T. Ready, At the conclusion of the service supper was partaken of, and an enjoyable hour was spent in song and story. ODDFELLOWS LODGE. Following on the disposal of ordinary business at the Loyal Jubilee Lodge, M.U., 1.0.0. F., the half-yearly installation of officers took place at the Centenary Hall, Paeroa, last night. Bro. D. S. Snow presided over a good attendance of members. The following were duly installed by Bro. G. Fallon, P.G., assisted by Bro. W. L. Lawrence, P.G.: N.G., Sister E. E. Freeman ; 1.P.N.G., Bro. D. S. Snow, V.G. Bro. F. Davies, E.S., Sister M. Berbelsen. A tribute was. paid to the loyalty and co-operation of the members during his term of office by Bro. Snow, and in thanking them for the assistance given him he wished them the compliments of the season. On behalf of the lodge Bro, K. L. Slyfield, P.G., acknowledged the greetings.
Sister Freeman, who holds the distinction of being the first sister to ■hcl c ] the office of. N-G. in the lodge, was the recipient of hearty congratulations from the members.
A tribute was paid to the sterling work done for the lodge by Bro. Slyfleld, and as a slight token of appreciation it was resolved to present him with a P.G.’s emblem, suitably mounted.
During the evening the presentation of a set of lodge regalia, presented by Bro. Slyfield, was made to Bro. W. Crunch by Bro. Fallon for his services in connection with increasing the membership of the lodge. At the conclusion of the ceremony supper was served by the sisters, and an enjoyable evening was spent in games and competitions, interspersed wih musical items.
