THAMES VALLEY BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING.
The 7 monthly meeting ot the Thames Valley Electric Power Board was held at Te Aroha yesterday, the chairman (Mr F. M. Strange) presiding over Messrs H. M. Corbett, J. Price, W. E. G. Willy, G. Howie, J. Pohlen, J. W. McCormick, J. Price, J. W. Anderson, J. B. Thomas, 0, A. Arthur, R. Sprague (manager), and N. G. McLeod (chief engineer). BRIDGE OVER DRAINS,
The Hauraki United Drainage B ard Turua, wrote pointing out that ratepayers had to erect their own bridges over drains, where required, at their own expense, and the board felt that the position of the Power Board was similar to that of any ratepayer. The board had decided, however, to arrange for the erection of the bridge, with timber to be supplied by the Power Board, provided it agreed to the Drainage Board retaining the pipes, which it would be necessary to remove. The chairman said that the letter referred to the board’s section at Kerepeehi, and had been attended to by the engineer. SATISFACTORY BALANCE-SHEET. The Chief Electrical ■ Engineer, Public Works Department, wrote acknowledging receipt of the balancesheet for the years 1926-27. In conveying best wishes for future successful years t'he writer stated that it was gratifying to note that the balance on net revenue for the year ended 1927, had reached £1696. The chairman said that it .was a pleasure to receive a personal touch of congratulation in an official letter, WAIHOU BRIDGE, KOPU. The resident engineer, Public Works Department, Paeroa, wrote with reference to to the board’s representations to placing the 11,000 volt cable under the Kopu bridge, over the Waihou River. Details were required of the proposals for carrying feeders across the river, showing the method of support on the bridge, and also the method of carrying the cable from the bridge piers to the trench in the riverbed—Referred to engineer. POWER SUPPLY REQUIRED. A Patetonga settler wrote advising that he wished to have electricity for milking shed, water-heater, and lighting purposes, and inquiring when light and power could be supplied. It was resolved to reply that a supply would be available early in the new year. MATAMATA INSTALLATION. The Matamata Town Board wrote asking terms and conditions for the installation of an additiopal light from the Arawa Street service for a public convenience.—Decided to refer to engineer for action. ACCOUNTS-. Accounts amounting to £.11,731 14s 2d on the power fund and £5918 6s 10 a on the loan fund were passed for payment. .
