Results : Paeroa, 8 sets (84 games); Netheirton, 8 sets (70 games). MATCHES ON THE PLAINS. WILLIAMS SHIELD COMPETITION. The first eliminating round of the Hauraki Plains Tennis Association’s competition for the He well Williams Memorial Shield was played on Saturday. At Waitakaruru the Kopuarahi team was beaten by eight sets to five, or 86 games to 73. Kqrepeehi beat Mangawjiero, at Mangawhero, also by eight sets to five, the difference in the number of games being 29. The Ngatea team, on its own. courts, beat the Hopai team by one se,t, although Hopai won one more game.
