ANNUAL A. AND P. SHOW
EVENT AT PAEROA.
Satisfactory entries to hand
A reminder is given that entries for the Hauraki Agricultural and Pastoral Show, which is to be held at the Paeroa Domain on Thursday, December 8, close with the secretary, Mr E. Edwards, to-morrow night. Already there is every indication that this year’s event is to be bigger and brighter than formerly. Although it has been decided to hold a one-day show only this year, it will be a long and interesting day, and the public should find plenty to 'hold their attention. Already a satisfactory number of entries has been received. In the cattle, classes the Captain Hubbard Memorial Cup, which is competed for annually in rotation by groups of pedigree cattle, is one of the chief .attractions for pedigree cattle-breeders. The present holder of the cup is the Hon. J. Fisher, Pukerimu, Cambridge, who won the trophy with his Shorthorn group last year. This year it will be competed, for by Friesian cattle breeders, and entries have been received from Mr A. H. Thirwall, who won the championship at the recent Thames Valley Show at Te Arolia, Messrs Ward Bros., of Waihou, W. McKee, Turua, B. Gwilliam, Netherton, and several prominent breeders from the Waikato.
The Jersey cattle classes are bound to provide plenty of competition, and entries for this popular breed Will be in excess of other breeds.
Prospects for interesting ring events are good. In addition to the Waikato champion hunter, Two-step, such well-known exhibitors as Messrs Peake, A. M. Fisher, B. Wadham, Wynn Brown, and others have signified their intention of competing at Paeroa. The class for Dominion hunter, over fair hunting fences, for which the first prize is £2O, always creates keen competition, and this year’s event promises to be no exception.
Other attractions in -addition to the usual ring event's will be a monster baby show, in which three classes have been provided, Boy Scout firstaid competitions, and weight-com-puting. Tlie Grand Parade is to take place at 1.45 p.m., when all placed animals will take part. There will also be a number of trade exhibits and sideshows on the ground.
