NEXT SATURDAY’S MATCHES* LOCAL TEAMS SELECTED. The semi-final games in the first round of the Piako Cricket Association’s competition will be played on Saturday. The attraction at the local domain will be the Paeroa A eleven versus Waitoa. The following is the team : W. Flower. G. Stack, G. Sale, F. Dare, H. M. Shand, W. H. Taylor, J. Rackham, J. Verran, H. Harrison, R. Hounslow, A. Martin. The match will commence at 2 p.m.

The P.aeroa B team will travel to Morrinsville by cars, leaving the Paeroa post office at 12.45 p.m. The following team has been selected : F. Pivott, C. Rolton, H. V. Coeks, A- Jenkinson, W. L. Lawrence, J. Goonan, W. Pearcey, L. Roberts, A. Knight, W. Sanderson, D. S. Snow. Emergency, J. M. Fox.

SCHOOL CRICKET.

LAST SATURDAY’S MATCH.

Continuing the school cricket competition on Saturday, Paeroa beat Karangahake by 34 runs. Paeroa’s fielding was excellent. Karangahake won the toss and sent Paeroa in to bat. Paeroa made 54 runs. Bardsley (19) and Mayo (17) played well. Goldsworthy bowled well for Karangahake, taking six wickets for 24 runs, and Hamilton four for 24. Paeroa’s second innings started badly, three wickets going down for 1, and four for 9 runs, through the excellent bowling of Goldsworthy. Arnold and Bardsley carried the score to 32, when the former was dismissed. Paeroa then declared, Bardsley carrying his bat for 17. Goldsworthy took four wickets for 7 runs. Karangahake batted one man short. Bowling for Paeroa, Mayo took four wickets for 6 runs. Arnold one for 11. Edwards one for 2, and M. Curtis two for 3. Karangahake’s second innings reached 28 runs, the team batting two men short. Mayo took three wickets for 4 runs, Arnold two for 5, Edwards one sor 8, and Curtis two for 8.
