MATCH AGAINST WAIHI.

WIN FOR LOCAL TEAM.

An inter-club tennis match between the Paeroa and Waihi clubs was held on the local courts on Saturday, and resulted in a win for the Paftroa team. The matches were played in brilliant sunshine, and some splejndid contests were witnessed, making the day a most enjoyable one.

At the conclusion of the day’s play the president, Mr S. J. Hedge, voiced the pleasure of the local club in entertaining the visitors, and expressed the ht.pe that this would be only one of several inter-club matches. Mr G. A. Chappell, in replying, stAted that the Waihi club was throwing in. their lot with the Thames Valley Association, and he hoped the two clubs would meet, frequently under the association’s auspicep. The scores of the various games were as follows, Paeroa players being mentioned first in each instance : — Singles.—Ruston beat E. Johnson, 9—6 : H. Thorp beat E. In thq A grade* Kerepeehi heat Ngatea by 9 sets or 90 games to 4 sets or 58 games, Turua beat JJopai by 9 sets to 4, Kopuarahi beat Patetonga by 7 sets or 87 games to 6 sets or 75 games, and Waitakaruru beat Kaihere by 9 sets or 99 games to 4' sets or 56 games.

In the, B grade Turua beat Ngatea by 13 sets or 105 games to 0 sets or 40 games, and Patetonga beat Kerepeehi by 9 sets to 4. NGATEA V. KEREPEEHI. Men’s Singles.—S. Coppins beat G. Crisp, 9 —4 ; E.
