ACCIDENT TO CHILDREN.
TWO GIRLS THROWN FROM PONY. ANIMAL SHIES AT DOG. Once again the stray dog nuisance has been the cause of an accident in the streets of Paeroa. Yesterday morning the two daughters of Mr T. Mathieson, Old Te Arolia. Road, Paeroa, the elder of whom is ten years of age, were riding along op horseback to the local public school. On leavthe Criterion traffic bridge the horse broke into a canter, and before it had gone many paces a large black and white dog rushqd out. The sudden appearance- of the animal caused the pony to shy and sweivq to one side, and the little girls lost their balance and were thrown on to the road. Constable McClinchy happened to be in the vicinity, and hq assisted the girls to his home in Willoughby Street, where Mrs McClinchy washed their wounds and comforted them, after which Mr McClinchy’s son drove them home. Fortunately the children were, not seriously hurt, nothing worse than slight, abrasions and shock being sustained. It is understood that the dog is well known for its rushing .at traffic proclivities, and an effort is to be made to have him destroyed..
