That the housewives of Invercargill collectively waste ne-arly £5OOO worth of soap annually owing to the “hardness” of the water was an interesting statemeint made by the engineer (Mr E. A. Giumbley) in a report, to the Invercargill Town Council. There is apparently no shortage of houses for sale in New Plymouth. The following advertisement, “Wanted to buy privately house, £l2OO-£lsoo', £6OO deposit. Apply Buyer, Herald Office,” inserted on one night last w brought 71 letters by the following brought 71 eltters by the following iiiorning. ’Twas on the thirteenth day of June John Jorkins caught a cold ; His eye was dim, and very soon Popr John felt really ill. Well, what d’you think Jolip Jorkins ’ tcok? Why, Woods’ Great Peppermint Cure,! And what d’you think old John forsook ? His illnet, to be. sure.
