SEEING THE WORLD.

TWO NONCHALANT TRAVELLERS.

WORKING THEIR WAY. Seeking employment when it offers, but moving on steadily as they secure enough money to see them over the next 'stagq of their journey, are two young men bent on travelling the world and seeing life properly. They are Hubert John Halliday, aged 22, and Norman Arthur Godward, aged 20.

Vigorous and full f youthful energy, travelling light, and neatly dressed, they are,, in everyday language, just walking. Their conception of the best way to s®e the word is to tramp it, and this is their object. Two months ago Hubert Halliday, who hails from Canada, stepped off the Aorangi at Auckland, and a few days ago, accompanied by Arthur Godward, who is a young Englishman, he set off on his journey. They possessed £1 between them. Theirs is not an endurance feat, but a tramp, and they do not scorn to accept occasional gifts, taking advantage of them with promptitude. One had been in casual work i Q England, while the other had a job which was far from promising in its prspects, and feeling unsettled, they decided it was better to tramp the country than to join, the ranks of the idle workless.

They have met with wonderful hospitality, and carry recommendations from those whom they have encountered. Work of apy description and of a temporary nature appeals to them as a means of earning a few shillings: to carry them on their way. Halliday, it might bq mentioned, has undertaken a self-imposed task, because his success in connection with an offer from his father depends on what he makes of life before his rer turn to his homeland.
