PAEROA CLUB’S ACTIVITIES.

CLOTHIER SHIELD TOURNAMENT.

Matters in bowling circles are going to be busy during the next few days. Commencing to-morrow morning, the Goldfields Stars . and Clothier Shield tournament is to be held at Te Arona, and will be continued on Monday (Labour Day). Matamata holds th© Goldfields Stars; while Paeroa holds the Clothier Shield.

This year the local club is sending three teams to Te Aroha to compete in the competitions and judging by the personnel selected the club should be well in the hunt when the Anal scores are totalled up on Monday evening. The following have been selected :— C. Holes, W. T. Power, W. Hamilton, W. Purdie (skip) ; W. N. Chamberlain. T. H. Hale, W. J. Towers, W. H. Taylor (skip) ; J. Wilkinson, W. J. Ellis’ G. H. Taylor, C. T. Mettam (skip). Purdie’s team wop the Shield last season. LOCAL GAMES. On Monday the local club has arranged a fixed pairs tournament to commence at 9 a.m. Owing to the Te Aroha greens bejng occupied by the big tournament, such members of that club who are not taking part have been invited to Paeroa to play in the fixed pairs competition, and it is probable that all the rinks will be in play locally.
