DISTRICT NEWS.
PIPIROA. CRICKET CLUB. The annual meeting of the Pipiroa Cricket Club was held on Monday evening, Mr J. Porter presiding over an attendance of twenty members. The balance-sheet showed a small deficiency on the past season’s operations, due largely to a heavy expenditure on a pavilion and poor financial support.
The following officers .were appointed : Patron, Mr J. Porter ; president, Mr D. McAulay; secretary, Mr P. Clark ; auditor, Mr C. Parfitt; committee, Messrs W. Ganley, J. Porter, W. Knox, P. Clark, D. McAulay ; delegates to Hauraki Plains Cricket Association, Messrs J. Galvin and C. Parfitt ; umpires; Messrs W. Ganley, C. Parfitt, and D. McAulay; selectors, Messrs J. Porter and W. Ganley; coach and captain, Mr W. O’Neil. Subscriptions were fixed at £l, and 10s for juniors.
The delegates to tho association were instructed to oppose the suggestion of playing the inter-club competition in two-day matches, and offer as a solution that all matches commence at 11 a.m. sharp.
A motion opposing the adoption of club boundaries was carried. A practice match Married v. Single was arranged for Saturday next, commencing at noon.
