CRICKET CLUB MEETING.

The Turua, Cricket Club held its first annual meeting in- th© Turua Buildings on Monday evetning, the Rev. Averill presiding over a. small but enthusiastic gathering. The annual report stated that the club had had a successful year. Four of th© Hauraki Plains Cricket Association’s inter-club matches and one friendly match had been won, and one game resulted in a draw, the others being lost by narrow margins. Six ■of the members had bejen selected in the representatives. A concrete pitch had been laid down at the end of the season, and th© thanks of the club were due to Messrs J. Griffiths, Heberley, and J. Galvin for services freely given. Thanks w©re also due to Mr S. G. Williams for the use of his ground as a playing field, and to the ladies who had provided refreshments for the. players.

The balance-sheet showed a debit balance of nearly £lO, but the club had assets totalling £33-odd. Officers appointed for th© season were as follows : Patron, Mr Al H. Rogers ; president, Mr J. Mules ; secretary and treasurer, Mr R. D. Macklow ; delegates to the Hauraki Plains Cricket Association, Messrs W.W. Averill and H. Owens ; captain, W. W. Averill ; vice-captain, J. Jqnkin ; selection committee, the captain, vicecaptain, and Mr G. Schofield ; auditor, Mr J. Gibson ; umpire, Mr B. Tynon : committee, Messrs R. Hill, L. Pentecost, M. Madgwick, and th© officers ex-officio. The subscription was fixed at 15s, reducible to 10s if paid by Decembei 1. It was decided to hold a working bee on tolie ground on Friday afte-rnoon and a practice, match Married v. Single on Saturday afternoon.
