BICYCLE MISHAP.
SCHOOLGIRL HURT. FALL FROM MACHINE. A pupil of St. Mary’s Convent named Mary Shavan, aged 13 years, met with a painful accident just after mid-day to-day. It appears that she was returning from a classi at tjie Manual School and had borrowed a 'bicycle from a. friend. Finding that she; was getting too far ahead of her companion, who was walking, she rode back to meet her. When negotiating a sharp bend le-ading from Rye Lane into Miller Avenue, the wheels of the machine skidded in a rut and the rider' was thrown heavily on fio the metalled road.
The assistance of Captain Grove, of th© Salvation Army, who was handy at the time, was sought, and hp conveyed the injured girl in his car to the residence of Mrs May, Normanby Road, with whom she lives. An examination by Dr. Little revealed that slight concussion, and numerous skin abrasions and bruises had been sustained.
