TERRILL CUP COMPETITION.

KEREPEEHI SCHOOL WINS FINAL.

The Kerepeehi School Rugby football team won the Terrill Cup for the second season by defeating the Ngatea School, fifteen at Ngatea on Saturday last. The' field was; dry, and a fast, interesting gamq was witnessed by a large crowd of very enthusiastic spectators. The standard of play was better than during the previous match but neither team played together,, the smaller meimbers standing back and depending on the' big boys.

Kerepeehi kicked off and the Ngatea forwards attacked. A free kick and two well-taken marksi sent Kerepeehi on the attack, Birkenhead saving with a line kick. Kerepeehi returned to the attack, Aro being conspicuous. From a scrum Birkenhead saved .with a speculator. Kerepeehi failed with a penalty kick, but followed up. and P. Aro scored. T. Baggs failed to convert. Ngatea followed up the kick-out, and in loos© play got to the visitors’ line, where a scrum qnsued from which the defenders got the, advantage and transferred play to the other end of the field. The second quarter opened with a Kerepeehi attack, which was followed by a long tussle in neutral territory until Williams secured and carried into Kerepeelii’s twenty-five. McPherson failed with a penalty kick and play returned to midfield. Ngatea worked up the line in close play until Hill returned to. halfway. In the second half a period of loose play ended with Clark and McPherson into Kerepeehi’s territory, but a free kick relieved. Kerepeehi rushed to the other end where open play ensued, T. Can* doing good work. Ngatea worked down the field in close formation, and Clark made a good run and scored. McPherson failed to convert. Kerepeehi 3, Ngatea 3. Carr, Smith, and Aro took to Ngatea’s, territory, where, after close play, Sparrow secured and carried to halfway.

From open play in neutral territory Thompson made a good run and Hoff toushed down. P. Arp failed to convert. Kerepeehi 6 Ngatea 3. Play ranged up and down the field, being fast and open. Ngate.a gained ground by making the most of opportunities and Kerepeehi returned by hard close play. Tn the last few minutes of the game Kerepejeni had a free kick and sent the ball to the deadball line. Kerepeehi then attacked, and a long kick was forced by Clarke„ the game ending Kerepeehi 6, Ngatea 3. Mr J. Kidd was referee.
