DISTRICT NEWS.

NGATEA. CRICKET CLUB. The Ngatea Cricket Club held its annual meeting on Monday evening, Mr J. Terrill presiding. Thes balance-sheet showed a debit balance of £4-odd. largely due to losses on dances, etc. The following officers were elected : President, Mr J. Terrill; secretary and treasurer, Mr R. Cornthwaite; committee, Messrs J. Darlington, SPhillips, and A. Hendry; delegates to Hauraki Plains Cricket Association, Messrs J. Terrill and R. Cornthwaite. Subscriptions were fixed at 10s 6d, and 5s for boys up to 18 years, of age. It was reported that the pitch was in good order but the field required a little attention. A working bee would be held op Saturday next. The question Of playing the association’s inter-club competitions in two-day matches was discussed, and the delegates were instructed to advocate the change.

The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to Mr Clare for the use of his room for the meeting.
