POWER BOARD WORKS.
ENGINEER'S REPORT; PAEROA DISTRICT. At the meeting yesterday of the Thames Valley Power Board the engineer (Mr N. G. McLeod) reported as follows on the works in the Paeroa district “Kaiheje- Patetonga. — Work on Mangowherp Road has been completed, and construction is proceeding towards Patetonga, about two miles of poling being already erected. Supply will be made available shortly to all consumers on Mangawhero Road. “O’Neill’s, Road. —Tihe permit for the railway crossing on this, having come, to hand, the work was completed September 16. “Maratoto.—The necessary bond from the Mining Company having been received construction on this road will commence as soon as work at the tree-planting section at Waitakaruru is completed. This should ba within a few days.
“Tei Aroha Road, Tirohia. —An extension of 56 chains of low tension on existing poles was completed during the month to supply further consumers, the .transformer at Cadman’s Road bqing shifted about three-quar-ters of a mile to bring it nearer the load centre.
“Criterion Bridge, Paeroa. —The 11,000-volt line that was deviated to permit of pole driving has been restored to its permanent position. The temporary construction will be removed shortly.
“Aorangi Road, Paeroa. —Fifteen chains of new line have been erected on this road to allow of the mains being ringed. Better regulation is now being obtained.
“Wharf Street, Paeroa.—On account of increased loading a new 100 k.v.a. transformer has been installed on the stop-bank to supply the central portion of the borough. “Tree Plajiting.—Planting on the board’s section at Waitakaruru was commenced on September 26, two men from the Forestry Department taking charge of the work. About 50 acres of the section had been ploughed, and it was disced before planting w&s> started. About 20 acres are being planted this year, and this work, as well as the fencing, will, shortly be completed. The Forestry Department' forwarded 14,000 E. Eugenioides and 100 each of E. Fastigata, E. Obliqua, E. Gigantea, E. Sali'gna, C. Benthamii, and C. Lawsoniana. The E. Eugenioides; are for the main planting and the C. Benthamii for the, fire-screen. Tihe others have been forwarded for experimenting purposes.”
