FIGURES FOR TWELVE MONTHS.
An idea of the volume of railway business transacted at the Pa’eroa station is- given in the following statistics taken from the returns published in the annual Railways Statement for the year eluded March 31. 1927 : A total of 37,772 tickets were issued, comprising 2330* first-class single, 739 first-class return, 22.330 second-class single, 11,937 second-class return, and 386 season tickets. In the outward goods department 31 OS cattle and calves were railed, 20,366 sheep and pigs, 5538 huidreds of superficial feet of timber, and 16,398 tons, of h«avy goods were consigned.
The total value of passengers’ ordinary and season tickets was .68582 16s 7d. the value of parcels £ll7O 14s, luggage and mails £lO9 12s Id, and goods £12,899. Miscellaneous charges bring the total outwards revenue from Paeroa up to £22,837 4s 2d. The inwards transactions show that 1164 cattle and calves were unloaded, ’4BSB sheep and pigs, 10,070 hundreds of superficial feet of timber, and 12,064 1 tons of general goods.
