DRAINAGE BOARD LOANS.
DECISION OF THE COURT. LEGISLATION NECESSARY. The. Hauraki United Drainage Board, on being notified on Friday by Mr E. L. Walton, its solicitor, of the decision of the Supreme Court at Wellington, that legislation was necessary to deal with the originating summons for an interpretation of the Lands Drainage Act, immediately applied for legislation to authorise it to complete the financial arrangements made by the Hauraki arid Horahia boards prior to their dissolution. The possibility of the judgment not being in its favour had been anticipated by the board, and the necessary clauses had beeai prepared and approved by the Internal Affairs Department. Promises of support have been secured from the Prime Minister and the other Cabinet Ministers interested, to whom the urgency of the matter has been represented.
