SWIMMING BATHS.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —Re Public Swimming Baths. It appears that the above will not be ready for use until the latter part of the summer season, and even that favour is not definitely promised us. Why, sir, should this be so ? We, the public, have clearly shown our willingness,- to shoulder the responsibility in sanctioning the required loan by a very definite majority, yet. our borough councillors are apparently making no great effort to surmount the obstacles which block the immediate construction of the baths. Surely the preliminary steps can be taken even if the loan money is not in hand. When the decision was publicly voted special efforts should have been made to ensure the completion of the work for the commencement of the season. We who find the money are surely entitled to some consideration in this matter. In speaking thus I am sure I am voicing the general opinion of my fellow-townsmen. I hope those in charge will yet see their way to give us the benefits of the entire swimming season. PRO BONA PUBLICO.
