PERSONAL.

Messrs H. Lowe and J. Higgins, chairman and engineer, respectively, of the Thames County Council, were visitors to Paeroa yesterday.

Dr. J. McMurray Cole, medical superintendent of the Waihi Hospital, has been granted twelve months’ leave of absence as from March of next year. Dr. Cole proposes to go abroad, and to visit various centres of hospital research work.

News has been received privately at Paeroa of the death this morning of Mrs John Clarkin, of Eureka, Waikato. Mrs Clarkin had be«n ill for a considerable time, and her death was not unexpected. Prior to going to Eureka Mrs Clarkin resided for a number of years in paeroa.
