DRYSDALE CUP COMPETITION.
ARRANGEMENTS FOR TO-MORROW.
The first round of the Drysdale Cup competition is to be played at the local domain to-morrow afternoon. Given reasonably good weather, followers of Rugby should find plenty' to interest them. Probably the game that will attract the greatest attention will be the meeting of, the Veterans team and the City fifteen. In th.e former team appear the names of old players who have not played for many years, while others have not handled a ball for several seasons. This team will assemble at the Royal Mail Hotel at 2.30 p.m. sharp and march to the domain. The city team comprises junior players from the East and West clubs. Whether youth will triumph over age remains to be seen, but in any' case a good game should eventuate. The East and West seniors meet on the No. 2 ground, and both matches are timed to commence at 3 p.m. The referee selected for the Veterans v. City match is Mr E. Smith, and Mr D. G. Great -interest is evident on the Hauraki Plains in the Rugby football knock-out competition which will commence at Ngatea to-morrow, when, the four senior teams; will meet in the first round for the Dent Cup. All the teams will probably be somewhat weaker than in recent matches owing to the absence of some of (he usual players, but each club is confident of success, and the games will undoubtedly be keenly contested.
