PAEROA RUGBY UNION. MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The weekly meeting of the Paeroa Rugby Union Committee was held on Monday night, the chairman, Mr C. T. Mettam, presiding over a full attendance. DRYSDALE CUP. The draw for tiie Drysdale Cup was made, and resulted as follows: — September 3: Veterans v. City; East v. West; Suburbs a bye. On a Saturday .date to be fixed, the draw was : Suburbs) v. winners East-West game, and winners of Veterans v. City game a bye. It was resolved to register F. T. V. Johnson for the Veterans team. THIRD GRADE MATCH. As requested by the Waihi Union, it was decided to send a third-grade team to Waihi on Saturday next to play a curtain-raiser to that union’s senior game. The matter of transport was left in t,he hands of the chairman. TRANSPORT. On the motion of Mr Pinder it was resolved to call tenders for the transport of the Paeroa team to Thames on September 10 ; tenders to be sealed and in the hands of the secretary by Monday, September 5. CONGRATULATIONS. On the motion of Mr Crosby the secretary was instructed to write to the Waihi and Hauraki Plains unions conveying the Paeroa union’s congratulations on their winning the Fr f ank Poland Memorial Cup and the Sharebrokers’ Cup respectively. ANNUAL SOCIAL. On the motion of the chairman it was resolved to hold the annual social on October 17. The secretary pointed out .that the organising of a social entailed considerable'extra work, and asked if he could be given some assistance. It was agreed to appoint Mr C. H. Vincent joint secretary. LIGHTING. On the motion of the chairman it was decided to obtain a quotation for lighting the football playing area similar to that prevailing at Te Arpha.' DRYSDALE CUP COMPETITION. TEAMS FOR SATURDAY. On Saturday the Paeroa Rugby Union’s knock-out competition for the Drysdale Cup will commence. The Veterans will be selected from the following: “Gene” Shaw, Jim Maloney, A. Royal, “Crow” McNeil, Wi Royal, Geo. Masters, Phil. Brenan, Frank Pitts', Ted Shaw, Bert Neil, Viv. Young, Jim Poland, G. S. Taiboys, W. White Tom Johnson, “Barney” Johnson, .lick Treanor, Dick Chamberlain, Geo. Neil, Vai. Vuglar, Cliff. Schultz. The team is 'requested to assemble, at the Royal Mail Hotel at 2.30 p.m. The following have been selected to represent East against West, on the No. 2 ground: H. Wright, F. Barakat, H. Moore, C. The conveyance will leave Brenna’s garage at 12.30 p.m. sharp. THAMES VALLEY V. WAIKATO. The. following team has been selected to represent Thames Valley against Waikato at Te Aroha on Saturday, September 10 : — Full-back, S. Goldsbury (Piako) 1 three-quarters, G. Towers (Piako), Faulkner (Waihi), C. McNeil (Paeroa) ; five-eighths, Black and Hollis (Waihi) ; half-back, L. Mcßae (Paeroa) ; j-over, Price (Waihi) ; forwards, McLaren and Young (Piako), Rolieston and Walters (Waihi), McPherson and Mulgrew (Plains), R. Smith (Paeroa). Emergencies: Backs, McQuarters (Piako) and Saunders (Waihi) ; forwards, Craig (Waihi) and Riddle (Piako)'. PLAINS KNOCK-OUT COMPETITION. PLAY FOR DENT CUP. The first round of the knock-out competition for the Dent Cup will be played, at Ngatea on Saturday, when the Turua and Ngatea seniors will meet at 1.30 p.m. and the Kerepeehi and Waitakaruru teams will meet at 2.30 p.m. In the event of either match, resulting ip. a draw at the conclusion of the customary time, play will continue for a further fifteen minutes, and if the scores are still equal play will continue until q score or a force is registered.
