A two-year old boy received painful injuries in an unusual manner at Greymouth (says the “Star”). He was playing in a room at the store of Hiss mother with ;j little gii’l. The latter left the. room, and, not knowing that the boy was following, closed the door, which struck the boy’s head, with the reSult that his teeth were forced through his tongue, the latter being practically severed. An operation was performed. A letter was received from the Prime Minister at yesterday’s, meeting of the Ohinemuri County Council acknowledging receipt of a resolution favouring the imposition of a petrol tax for the purpose of providing revenue for main highways. The Prime Minister advised that the council’s representation would receive careful consideration.
