ELECTRIC POWER BOARD

WORK DURING THE MONTH.

ENGINEER’S REPORT.

Included in the engineer’s report submitted at yesterday’s meeting of the Thames Valley Electric Power Board was the following “Kaihere-Patetonga.—The line work has been completed on the 11,000-ivolt line from Smerle’s, mill up to and including Kaihere township. Power was suppied to this section on July 28, and till consumers ready were connected. District telephone communication with Kaihete is available on the board’s own system.

“Work on Mangawhero Road depends upon the weather. The road is at present, unworkable, and it may be necessary to continue on towards Patetonga before Mangaw'heiro Road can be completed.

‘‘Kerepeehi.—The new feed point at Kerepeehi was made, alive on July 10, but certain adjustments were necesisary. Satisfactory supply was obtained on July 17, since when there has been a great improvement in conditions generally all over the Hauraki Plains.

“Waitawheta.—This 11,000-volt section was made alive on July 8. and all consumers ready were given supply. “Maratoto Road.—Distribution, of materials for the line to supply the lOhinemuri Gold and Silver Mines Co. has commenced. Erection will be started within a few days. “Awaiti.—On account of the widening of the main drain on the Nether-ton-Awaiti road it has been necessary to shift a number of our main-line poles back. Unfortunately the severe storm on July 25 blew several of the poles over, the ground not being sufficiently consolidated to hold them up. The automatic switch at Kerepeehi cut power off, however, and the section was isolated until repairs could be' completed, “The 12in pump for the Elstow Drainage Board was put into operation on July 20, and it appears to be working quite satisfactorily.”
