PAEROA DEFEATS WAIHI.

LAST SATURDAY’S MATCH.

On Saturday afternoon' the Paeroa ladies’ hockey team defeated the Waihi eleven by three goals to one at the local domain. The match was particularly fast, considering the heavy state of the ground. The home side forced the pace and appeared to have the better of the game throughout. At half-time the score was three goals to nil, goals being netted by Miss V. Shand (2) and Miss El Bell.

In the second half the combination, of the Waihi team improved, and through the efforts of the backs Paeroa was not able to drive the ball farther than the circle. From a bully Waihi set up a loose rusjh and carried play into the circle for Miss D. Weedon to shoot the only goal for the visitors.

The Rev. W. G. H. We-adon was referee.
