NGATEA. COMBINED SPORTS COMMITTEE. The committee appointed recently to organise and control the regular Saturday evening dances in Ngatea for the combined sports clubs has settled down to its duties, and the indications are that the functions will become increasingly popular. At the first dance, held last Saturday evening, the atttendance was above the average, and the arrangements were quite satisfactory. At its first meeting last week trie committee appointed Mr C. S. Foster, the people’s representative, its chairman and Mr A. Kemp secretary. Duties were allotted and arrangements made for carrying op the functions in a manner calculated to overcome criticism. Miss L. Birkenhead (piano) and Mr J. King (saxophone) have been engaged to provide the music. At a meeting of the Ladies’ Hockey Club on Monday evening the appointment to the committee of Mr A. Kemp was confirmed, while on Tuesday evening the Football Club confirmed the appointment of Mr E. C. Barriball as its representative. . At the time of writing the other two clubs had not fixed their representation, but while a change is, anticipated in the case of the Cricket Club, for which body a delegate was appointed in his absence and against l his wishes, there is little chance that the Tennis Club will not confirm the appointment of Mr T. Alderson ast its representative.
At a meeting of the Ngatea Ladies’ Hockey Club this week Mrs J. Gribble was appointed president in the place of Mrs Bertelsen, whose resignation was accepted.
