MIRANDA. WEDDING’. A very pretty choral wedding was solemnised at the Epsom Methodist Church on Wednesday, June 1, when Miss Marjorie Paine, youngest daughter of Mrs and the. late Mr F. Paine, of 51 Empire Road, Epsom, was mar-r-\d to Mr George John Coxhead, of Miranda, third son of Mrs and the late Mr. R. Coxhead, of Buckland. Miss Sylvia Coxhead attended as bridesmaid, and Miss Joyce Campbell made a pretty little flower-girl. Mr Luther Cox head acted as best man. The Rev. Drake officiated. KEREPEEHI. STREET LIGHTS. Kerepeehi street lights appear to be the concern of the ladies of the township. A public meeting was heki last evening to hear the annual report of the committee, but only the lady members of the committee amt two men were present. The, balance-sheet showed a. balance brought forward from 1925 of £l3 15s. subscriptions and donations £l5 7s 6d, dances, etc., £l2 12s. and bank interest 15s Bd. Payments, to the Powei Board since December. 1925, to June, 1927, totalled £4l 12s. and petty expenses totalled 9s 3d, leaving a credit balance of 8s lid. ' The secretary, Mr H. Hoff, reported that during the year the County Council had taken over two of the street lights, thereby decreasing the liability by £6 a year. The cost of the lights was now £4 18s 9d a quarter, plus the cost of any renewals.

Reporting on the fact that there were no lights for a few weeks some time ago, the chairman (Mr J. Kidd) stated that on the instructions of the ■committee the Power Board had declined to replace burnt-out lights without written instructions from the secretary. The -secretary had been absent from the district, and it was some time before the matter could be righted. To overcome such mishaps in the future it was decided to inform the Power Board that instructions might be given by Mr J. Kidd, as well as Mr H. Hoff.

As a means of raising funds it was decided to circulate subscription lists and to hold a series of social functions at a suitable time. It was also decided, to save expense by having the light at the wharf reduced from 200 candle power'to 100 candle power, it being considered unnecessary now tihat the launch traffic had ceased.

Mrs F. Rogers was appointed to the committee, which already comprises of Mesdames .O’Loughlin, Kidd, Hoff, Hudson, and Messrs. Herkt, W. Shilton, W. Booth and J. Murdoch.
