PLAINS HOCKEY.

MEETING OF ASSOCIATION. The Hauraki Plains Ladies’ Hockey Association met at Ngatea last evening, Mr J. H. Nicholson presiding over Messrs S. Cook, J. Miller, H. Kerby, N. Boyne, J. Terrill, C. W. Harris, H. Aberhart, and R. C. Abel

COUNTRY WEEK TOURNAMENT. The Auckland Ladies’ Hockey Association wyote advising that the Auckland Provincial Cup Tournament would commence at Remuera, Auckland, on the afternoon of Monday, July 4. The duration of the tournament would depend on the. number of entries received.

Details of the arrangements in connection with the- visit of the Plains team were settled as far as possible at present. It was decided to call tenders for the transportation to and from Auckland. j Mr J. H. Nicholson was appointed manager of the team, and it was agreed that a suitable player be appointed chaperone. It was suggested that as a means cf raising funds with which to send the team to Auckland a concert and dance should be held. Discussing dates and places, it was agreed that it would be preferable to hold the function at Turua on Thursday next. Many offers of songs and items were received, and a committee was appointed to organise the whole function. INSURANCE OF PLAYERS. Ths Auckland Ladies’ Hockey Association wrote advising that an attempt was being made to establish a scheme of insurance for players, and it was desirable to know' how many players would participate should the scheme he floated. The premium was 2s 6d per player per annum, and the benefits £2OO for death by accident, £2 a week for 10 weeks for total disablement, and 10s a week for 10 weeks for temporary disablement. Half the benefits could be obtained for half the premium. The Kerepeehi delegate< stated that the members of his club were prepared to become insured. Other delegates spoke of the advisability of all players obtaining cover, and advised that the matter would be considered at the first meeting of their clubs. The- association decided to see that all the touring team were insured. TO-MORROW’S MATCH. In connection with the Possibles v. Probables match at Ngatea to-mor-row, it was decided that a collection be taken up in aid of the touring fund. Arrangements were made for marking the- field and obtaining permanent goalposts. The representative team will be selected immediately after the match.

As referees for the match it was suggested that Messrs. C. L. Griffiths and G. Boswell be appointed.
