PAEROA RUGBY UNION. '• MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The weekly meeting of the Paeroa Rugby Union Committee was held in Mr Bain’s rooms on Monday evening, the chairman (Mr C. T. Mettam) presiding over Messrs T. Royal, H. M. Shand, C. H. Potter, J. Pinder, E. P. Fathers, and R. Hodson (secretary). PRIMARY SCHOOLS’ UNION. On behalf of the Thames Valley Primary Schools’ Union Mr J. E. Insley waited on the meeting and asked for the help of the union in raising funds to send the Paeroa representatives in the team to Auckland to defend the Roller Mills Shield. It was also the intention of the Schools Union to arrange for an Auckland team to play the Thames Valley representatives either at Paeroa or To Aroha some time in September. A gala day at Paeroa was to be held, and anything the local union could do would be much appreciated. In reply the chairman stated that the union would do what it could and assured Mr Insley that it had every sympathy with schoolboys’ football. He felt sure that the union would give the whole of the gate takings of club matches at Paeroa on a. Saturday to be arranged, probably on August 20 next. CLEARANCE GRANTED. On the motion of Mr Potter RSmith, Netherton, was granted a clearance from the Netherton club on account of him leaving the district. CLEARANCES REFUSED. A letter was received from the Waikino club asking that two Karangahake club players, O’Brien and McLeod, be granted clearances and allowed to play for Waikino. In support of the request it was pointed out that the players mentioned were working at Waikino. The chairman said that it was desirable to hold the Karangahakc team together. In the first place, the union had gone to some trouble to get Karangahake included in the union’s territory, and he saw no reason why a former decision of the committee should be altered. On the moiton of Mr Pinder it was resolved to refuse the application. REGISTRATION GRANTED. An application was received on behalf of C. McNeil, Netherton,' for registration. On the motion of Mr Potter, seconded by Mr Fathers, the registration was accepted and the player allotted to the East Club seniors. Mr Shand reminded the meeting tha.t last week the East Club had applied for a senior player to be regraded to junior status. Apparently the club had more players tha.n it required. However he did not intend to object to the resolution. FIXTURES FOR SATURDAY. The following fixtures for Saturday next were approved Seniors.—-East v. Suburbs, at Paeroa, 3 p.m., referee Mr, D. G. McMillan. / Juniors. —East v. West at Paeroa, 2.30 p.m.’, referee Mr E. Smith; Nethv. Suburbs, at Netherton, 3 p.m., ►eferee Mr F. T. V. Johnson. A Paeroa third-grade team was granted permission to travel to Thames on Saturday to play a return match with the Physical Training team. It was decided to loan the team the representative jerseys. GENERAL. It was resolved to call tenders for the transport of the Paeroa representative team to Ngatea on July 2. Three were to be asked, one of which was to travel to Ngatea via Hikutaia. One of the West delegates on the committee, Mr J. M. Crosby, having failed to attend three consecutive ' meetings, forfeited his seat on the committee under the rules. Mr Shand undertook to obtain the services of another delegate before the next meeting. The action of the chairman in arranging for transport for the Hikutaia. players in the Paeroa 'representative team on Saturday last was confirmed. Accounts totalling £3 16s. were passed for payment. Several members expressed disapproval of last year’s accounts coming forward nearly every meeting for payment.
