PAEROA STOCK SALE.
ANOTHER RECORD YARDING.
RULING PRICES MAINTAINED.
The monthly cattle sale by the N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., was held in the Paeroa yards on Tuesday. Another record was established in the number of cattle yarded, over 400 head being penned. Ruling prices were maintained, and the fact that buyers were present from Auckland, Westfield, Waikato, and Hauraki Plains, and bought freely, either by auction or privately, clearly indicates that Paeroa is a suitable centre for stock sales, and that the efforts of the company are fully justified.
Promptly at 12.30 p.m. the. company’s auctioneer, Mr S. W. Foote, mounted the rails, and that he had disposed of the last line shortly after 4.30 p.m. speaks volumes for his capabilities as an ardent auctioneer. Dairy heifers close to profit met with a ready demand, while the requisition for store stock was keen, nearly all the pens being disposed of either under the hammer or privately following the sale. Pigs sold very well, and current prices were maintained.
It is worthy of record that the yarding at the local sale on Tuesday was in excess of any other sale in the district this season.
We quote the following prices:— Dairy cows from £9 10s -to £ll ss, others £6 2s to £7 7s ; inferior and rough £2 10s to £5; dairy heifers close to profit £6 to £9 10s, poorer sorts from £4- 10s to £6 ; fat cows and heifers £4 to £5 15s ; fresh find meaty cows £2 10s to £3 15s. Pigs met with fair competitions, weaners bringing from 10s to 18s, slips 19s to 365, and large stores from 28s to 335.
