MOTOR ACCIDENT.
CYCLE AND CAR COLLIDE.
PAEROA RESIDENT INJURED.
As a result of a collision with a motor-car near Wqitoa on Saturday night Albert Hargreaves, son of Mrs E. Hargreaves, Thames Road, Paeroa, sustained a broken right leg.
Hargreaves, who is employed by Mr W, W. Scott, building contractor, Paeroa, had been working on the new hotel premises near Morrinsville, and was riding home to Paeroa for the week-end on a motor-cycle in company with Mr XV. Rowe, of Waihi. Owing to the heavy rain visibility was bad, a.nd it is understood that tlie motor-car, driven by Mr Saxon, was travelling with one head-light only. Mr Hargreaves apparently misjudged the distance and struck the mudguard of the car, causing him to swerve and fall heavily and sustain the injury mentioned. The ambulance was summoned from Te Aroha and the sufferer was conveyed to the Waikato Hospital, Hamilton. Mr Rowe, who was following Mr Hargreaves on another motor-cycle, was thrown into a ditch, but neither he nor the driver of the car suffered injury.
One motor-cycle was damaged considerably, and the mudguards and running-board of the .car were crumpled.
